Why a Wipe-Down Isn't a Deep Clean

A wipe-down cleans what a hand can reach in one pass. It is worth doing, and it is not the same thing as a deep clean. Soil does not sit politely on flat surfaces — it collects in seams, joints, castors, textured plastic and fabric, where a cloth skims over the top and leaves the rest behind.

Where the gap shows most

Mobility equipment makes the point better than any office desk. A wheelchair looks clean after a wipe, while the frame joints, the seat padding, the footplates and the wheel housings still hold months of build-up. That is exactly why our Mobility Care work uses steam sanitizing and disassembly where the equipment allows it, rather than a surface pass — it reaches the places a cloth was never going to.

The same logic runs through offices, clinics and daycares. Daily tidying keeps a space presentable; a scheduled deep clean is what keeps it genuinely hygienic. Both belong in a plan — the mistake is asking one to do the other's job.
